Things on my desk

Posted by Randilin on December 14, 2007

So while I was surfing through a couple of people’s Thursday 13 lists, I came across one person who listed off the 13 things on there desk.  That reminded me just how much I needed to clean my desk before I went on vacation.  So here goes my own little whats on my desk and where it’s going list…

  • 2 Spill proof coffee mugs – Going home to be washed..
  • 3 pictures, two of which are now in a frame I got a year ago, so now I can bring another frame home to reuse.
  • A couple of dozen random sheets of paper, with various bits of information and instructions on them all went in to the recycling bin to be shredded.
  • A bunch of returned mail, that is several months old. Sent it back to the returned mail stack..
  • Cutlery that needs to go home to be washed.
  • A neat pen caddy and stuff holder that is being stashed away in my draw.
  • Hand cream in the desk
  • Lip gloss in my bag, so I can use it at home.
  • Stupid little plastic garbage, now empty and left on the desk.
  • Small Clifford stuffy sitting on my CPU watching my desk while am away
  • A small calander

Well it took about 30 minutes but the desk is clean..

Rip – Millie

Posted by Randilin on December 14, 2007

This morning I had the sad pleasure of attending the funeral of Mildred Speers.  She has been a part of my life on and off since I was 13 years of age.  While during the past few years we haven’t seen each other all that often, when we did it was always an enjoyable conversation.

Millie as I have always known her was a woman who was getting on in years.  but she never let her age interfer with her life or stop her from doing anything.  I had always known that she was a busy woman who was there to  help in any way she could.  She never asked for anything, never did it for glory or fame.  If something needed doing, Millie was there to do it.

As a part of Keycon she was a regular volunteer and often a sound board and support for anyone else who was volunteering in some way.  In the Manitoba FOlk Festival she was one of a small group of 30 year volunteers.  She had volunteered since the very first festival and was a regular site in the volunteers food tent.

She was a truely amazing woman who had touched the lives of so many people and had such a profound impact on a lot of people.  Her memory will live on in all of our hearts.
