WordPress & Blogger
Posted by Randilin on January 24, 2008
So as I mentioned in an earlier blog I’ve been trying to put a few small ads on the page. Things like when I do a book review I include an amazon link to the product and such. Well apparently wordpress doesn’t allow such things. which sucks. So at this point I am exploring the possiblity of moving over to blogger.com and I was curious to hear other people thoughts and opinions on Blogger.com and how it has worked out for them, how they find it for commenting and just general opinions

Blogger commenting is a pain. I now no longer comment on blogs where I have to log into Google just to post a comment. And you can’t leave a trackback. The hosting itself is nice, but I much prefer having my own hosting and using WordPress on it. Full customisability.

I’ve got a blogger blog and a wordpress blog. Overall, I prefer wordpress because I can’t do as much with the formatting at blogger, and like Broad says, you have to log into google and some of my friends have never been able to log in at all. That is not to say I don’t like blogger. That blog works for what I want, but it seems no host is perfect (imagine that). I suppose you could look at places like gather.com and such. There are lots of options. Good luck finding the right fit.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this all day and the past few days as well. Surfing the web I’ve explored a lot of different options and been reading a fair amount about different sites and blog providers. The general consensus on the web is that the best site is wordpress.org with your own host. Sadly that costs money, which I don’t have to spend on the money to spend on it at the moment. So at this point the plan is that over the course of the weekend. I will be migrating the site over to Blogger.com. I’ll post a link as soon as things are set up.
